Mysteries Pointing Toward the One Who Knows Every Secret and the Answer to Every Conundrum.

Book Hoard to Literary Treasure

In the story, Hugo, there is an old man who owns a bookshop. His place is filled with dozens of books, and he has read every single one, and is intimately acquainted with each text. I aspire to this example.

My husband and I own quite a library. Some books, I have read, others I have not read. Right now, I’m not buying very many new books, but I am going to set up to read every book we own and get to know our library. Even if I’ve read it before, I plan to read it again. Some of these books I’ve previously read, I haven’t opened in over a decade.

I don’t know how long it will take me to get through it, as we have a few hundred books. I made a good beginning with Rembrandt is in the Wind and Van Gogh has a Broken Heart. I think, I want to try reading every book on this shelf next. (There are several other shelves.) Let’s see how long it will take.

I’m calling this project, Book Hoard to Literary Treasure. While the books are piled around me, a person who says she loves books and to read, they are more of a hoard of books. Much like a dragon might gather his gold. As I read and study and get to know the books in our library, they’ll go from a mere hoard, to a treasure from which I can grow, learn, and share. That is, at least, my hope and prayer, and I’m looking forward to the adventure!
